The World Diabetes Congress, 21st edition,is one of the world’s largest health-related congresses, attracting 15,000 delegates, more than 400 high level speakers, and representatives from over 200 diabetes member associations from more than 160 countries.

The World Diabetes Congress in Dubai reflects the city's growing importance as a hub for medical meetings and conferences.

IDF has run the World Diabetes Congress since 1952, and the last of these biennial meetings was held in Montreal, Canada. The IDF congress unites the global diabetes community, providing an essential forum for the dissemination and promotion of leading scientific advances and knowledge on practical aspects related to diabetes care, education and advocacy. In recent years diabetes education and the rights of people living with diabetes have become prominent themes. Participants include physicians, scientists, nurses, educators and other healthcare professionals, as well as government representatives, policy makers, people with diabetes, representatives from IDF member associations and members of the press.

Diabetes is a critical challenge to global health and day by day this threat is increasing at epidemic rates and affecting all countries.The conference is intended for experts in the fields of: Diabetes, Hypertension, Dyslipidemia, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Nephrology, Hyperlipidemia, Family Medicine, Primary Care Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Physicians’ Assistants.

The congress has been instrumental in channelizing and brining together healthcare professionals from around the world to work together to tackle the disease. This prestigious congress is a platform where the global healthcare community and diabetes stakeholders join hands to tackle the pandemic which has now become a global healthcare burden.

A variety of session types, from abstract-driven presentations to symposia, “meet the expert” and plenaries, will meet the needs of the various participants that make the World Diabetes Congress such a unique event. Other related activities, including satellite meetings, exhibitions and affiliated events, will contribute to an exceptional opportunity for professional development and networking. In light of a landmark year for diabetes, the Congress will feature a stream dedicated to global health challenges.
